SMPN 1 BANDUNG – SERANG

Background of the study
The improvement of the educational quality must be done integrally, systematically, gradually, and continuously. Beside, the professional skill of the teacher in managing the studying and teaching activities will influence to the success of the student beside he has to understand some principles of education and teaching and the phases of the child’s growth so that he is able to carry out the studying his activities in line with the growth of the child.
One of aspects has need to be paid attention to teaching English is vocabulary, without sufficient vocabulary might prevent students from learning a foreign language. In other word, when the students do not have enough vocabulary, they can not communicate with other.
Acquiring vocabulary is also essential aspect in learning English to help be ability to communicate. As for conveying my idea, students need to use exact word.
To overcome this problem, the teacher should enable the student to understand and necessary vocabulary by using creative and interesting ways, concerning that, learning language for student should be active and dynamic, it should involve students participant. Learning a language through English song can be alternative, generally, children like singing. In addition, interesting English song can also offer new ideas from which student can memorize important vocabularies. All vocabularies, like student’s body part, nature, color shapes, animal and many other can be transferred vocabularies through English song especially student of SMPN 1 BANDUNG, it seems that the students have a problem in vocabulary. So, through English song will create enjoyment because student will enjoy these activities.
Based on the reason above, the writer would to study “ IMPROVING STUDENT’S VOCABULARY MASTERY THROUGH ENGLISH SONG SEVENTH GRADE OF SMPN 1 BANDUNG ”
Problem
Identification
Based on the background above :
The student capability to produce with their own vocabularies are still low.
The teacher doesn’t create his teaching learning activity to improve student’s vocabulary.
Limitation
Improving vocabulary student’s really needed by student’s especially seventh grade of SMPN 1 BANDUNG. There are many ways to improve the student vocabulary by listen the song and students are force to memorize the song.
Formulation
Based on the problem limitation above the writer can put forward the following problem :
Can English song improve student’s vocabulary mastery especially for the students at the seventh grade of SMPN 1 BANDUNG.

Research Objective
Teacher :
Giving an alternative on the teaching and learning process dealing writers vocabulary at seventh grade students of SMPN 1 BANDUNG.
Students :
Improving their vocabulary through English song after teaching learning process.
The other researcher :
The result of the research may become on input for the other researcher who want to be observe other problem in teach English, especially vocabulary.

Research Benefit
The writer studies improving student’s vocabulary mastery through English song. This study is expected to able to overcome the problem that are face by the teacher of English, especially in SMPN 1 BANDUNG. The teacher have an alternative, which is more interesting, effective and efficient in improving their student’s vocabulary. And the students will find English amusing, interesting and easy to understand and learn.

Hypothesis
Hypothesis in this research are :
Alternative hypothesis ( Ha )
The use of English song will not improve student’s vocabulary mastery
Null Hypothesis ( Ho )
The use of English song will not improve student’s vocabulary mastery
Theoretical Foundation
There are some term that need to be clarified in this study. They are follow:
Improving
“ is word in oxford advance learners” dictionary of current English, mean that a sound or group at the sound that express a meaning and form and independent unit language.
Vocabulary
Based on curriculum 2005 standard competence vocabulary is kind of linguistic competence beside grammar, spelling, pronunciation. Vocabulary consist on content, word, function word, phrase and expression. Learning and foreign language can not be separated from practicing vocabulary it mean when a person learn a language, they should learn the word. To learn word means that they should know the vocabulary. Vocabulary is also necessary for the student the acquire a language and can help be ability to communicate.
English Song
Song and grifee ( 1992 : 5 ) says “ song is are especially good and introducing vocabulary because song provide a meaningful context for the vocabulary, he also said “ song can be use to relax students and provide and enjoyable classroom atmosphere”. So it can be concluded that song is useful to teach vocabulary.

Data Research
Population
The population of this research is all students at seventh grade of SMPN 1 BANDUNG, there are 260 population.
Sample
The sample of this research is 40 students of seventh grade student

Research Method
Research Method
In this research the writer uses the experimental method the will use one group pretest posttest design, the writer take one class, and the class will be given pretest and posttest.

Research Technique
The writer use the formula as follows :
t = md
√((Σx^2 d)/(n(n))
t = test for defendant means

md = the mean of deviation post test pre test
xd = the differences between the paired score
Σd= the of deviation quadrant
N = total number of student
Research Instrument
The instrument in this research consist pre test and post test. The writer will give spoken test and written test.
Research Step
Decide the subject of the research
Decide the experimental class
Give the student pre test
Give the student treatment
Give the student post test
Examining the result of the test ( pre test and post test )
Testing the hypothesis by comparing the outcome of pre test and post test.
